I have been searching the web since I watched the movie trying to find more information regarding the factuality of the storyline. I'd planned to read articles and books to develop my own opinion. This article is precisely what I was searching for -

why wasn't Baldwin IV, as a leper, considered a heretic?

I enjoyed your article. It was what I was looking for except that there is no mention of the King of Jerusalem. I learned from elsewhere that he was Baldwin IV and that he indeed was a leper. I wanted to know if he truly wore a mask.
After I saw Troy and the quantity of awful changes done I was wondering after seeing Kingdom of Heaven if it was more less accurate with history, because I enjoyed the movie a lot and this article helped me to understand better and to enjoy it more
